We’ve
listed below some of Flagstaff’s sushi favorites –
the best of the best sold at the 3 sushi restaurants in Flagstaff:
Note: in all establishments, the California roll which has avocado,
crab and cucumber, is by far the most popular. We’ve concentrated
on other specialties sold by Sakura, Hiro’s and Monsoons.
- Volcano Roll – the new favorite
at Hiro’s. The Volcano Roll is a California Roll with
a slightly spicy mixture, crabmeat and scallops with Japanese
mayo and massago (fish eggs). It’s baked and covered
with eel sauce and garnished with radish sprouts.
- Dragon Roll – A favorite at Sakura
is this shrimp tempura roll, with avocado, crab and shrimp
inside and avocado slices formed to the outside of the roll
which is then covered in eel sauce. It is a 10 piece roll.
- Vegas Roll – eel, crab, cream
cheese and avocado wrapped in seaweed and rice and dunked
in tempura batter and flash fried.
- Beast Roll – this is a
new roll created at Sakura which is becoming a fast favorite
for Sakura’s clientele. Shrimp Tempura, spicy tuna,
cream cheese and avocado, wrapped in seaweed and rice, dunked
in tempura batter and flash fried.
